Is anyone else tired of Valentines Day?

Hey! don't get me wrong. I am in love with the most wonderful man out there and I love to hear him tell me Happy Valentine's Day and I love you. I also love to tell him these things. But seriously! Come on. I have been seeing blog posts related to valentine's day since New Years. I know that you are all a lot more creative than you are showing, and I am really tired of seeing crafts every day for a month with hearts and roses. These posts have really gotten old especially when I see at least 10 posts of cupcakes and another 100 of the same or very slightly different craft every day. I would suggest that maybe the weekend before Valentine's Day, you post one creative idea to share with others on the subject, and maybe mention it the actual day of the holiday and then get on with things. You aren't the only one posting out here and after reading 300 blogs posting Valentine's Day stuff every day for a month and a half, I am over it. I really don't care if anyone else wishes me a Happy V Day today.

I hope you all have a wonderful day. I promise that tomorrow I will be back to myself and in a happy day mood. I don't plan to read any more valentine's day posts before next year and if you start posting valentine's day posts before next year, I won't read them.

So call me an Idiot!

Ok I feel like a doof! I asked people to leave comments on my blog, but I just figured out how to read them at 3:30 in the morning. Don't ask me what I am doing up at this time of the morning! Anyway, when I tried to email one of the people who left me a comment, I was unable to send it. I will admit, I am definately more artistic than I am computer savvy.

I also promised to start posting some tutorials to show you all how to make some of the things that I do. Since I fell in December, I have been pretty limited in what I can do. I can't cut glass with my left hand, so I haven't been working any glass. I do have a few smaller projects in the works though. I am actually working on several different things right now. I have boxes to fill for a swap! I also have some other things in the works too.

My niece set her wedding date while her fiance was home on leave. My sister and I have been doing some brain storming for inexpensive ways to get beautiful results. We are going to be making a version of altered bottles for the centerpieces on the tables. She wants twinkle lights...so twinkle lights she shall have. (If anyone knows of a place where we can get battery operated twinkle lights pretty cheap, I sure would appreciate a heads up!) I also make jewlery and my sister has asked me to make the necklaces for the bridesmaids to wear and a special version for Katrina. I had already planned on a special necklace for my niece. I don't know if she will end up deciding to wear it for the wedding or not but she will get it reguardless. Katrina and I have been close since she was little. I am so happy for her. She has been through some things that no young woman should ever have to endure and she deserves a man who treats her like a princess. James does just that. He is the most amazing young man and I have to say that he is the only man I can imagine who deserves someone so special. I will be sure to post pictures of the different versions of the altered bottles and the final one as well. I will also post the pictures of the necklaces as I finish them. I might be able to do a tutorial on the bottles after we figure out exactly what we want the final product to look like. We have a couple of different ideas bouncing around right now. I also will be making a bunch of sea glass this summer. Katrina wants that to sprinkle on the tables around the centerpieces.

Ok so now that you know how many things are bouncing around in my brain....this doesn't even start to count the hassles of dealing with workman's comp and trying to get a paycheck to pay the bills and feed the kids and dog...you know why I am still awake at 4am. This post is all over the place! I am going to try to get some sleep, now that my arm has stopped throbbing....gotta love pain killers...and I have gotten some of my thoughts written down and out of my head. I hope you all have a wonderful night? day? Not sure what you would call it. I will chat with you all soon.

I've been busy!

I have been busy for the past couple of days. I have been making muslin ribbons. I love these ribbons for m any different projects and making them is stress relieving for me.

This is a picture of all of my muslin ribbons.

This picture is of the ones I tea dyes. I love this look when I am going for a vintage feel in a project. These are planned for a specific project that I will show you later.

Here is a close up picture of the tea dyed ribbon. It is so pretty.

This is a picture of some that I dyed with Easter egg dye. I really like the colors that I get this way. They are so fun and work well into many different projects.

These are some egg dyed ribbons that I have stamped on with Staz On ink.

I love creating this ribbon and I love using it in projects and gift wrapping too.

Today has been a good day. Nothing exciting happened to make it special. It was just one of those days that you just enjoy. It started in the usual way. A shower...get dressed and throw my hair up into a ponytail. My ex husband came over to put the kitchen cabinets back on my kitchen walls and sand the drywall that he patched a couple of weeks ago. I know...most ex husbands wouldn't do things like that for you, but mine does. We are better friends now that we are divorced than we ever were when we were together. Last night my daughter wanted to go to our favorite frozen custord place but they were closed before we could get their. It will be my twins 20th birthday next weekend and since they will be with their dad, we decided to celebrate this weekend instead. Courtney decided that she wanted to spend her time with her friend Tommy so Cari and Cody and I went out by ourselves. We went out to dinner and then went to Borders to pick up a book that Cari wanted. Since we couldn't get custard last night, we went this afternoon. We were going to catch a movie too, but since we were under a winter weather advisory and it was snowing like crazy when we left, we decided to just grab a couple of movies for me and a video game for each of the kids to play at home.

The evening has been quiet and relaxing. I have watched my movies each twice through. I loved Eat Pray Love when I saw it in the theater and wanted to see Letters to Juliet but didn't get to see it in the theater so I bought them both today. The kids have been playing their games. I have also been blog hopping and found a great one with a lot of organizing tips. (sewmanyways.blogspot.com) I found a lot of great ideas on this blog that I plan to use to reorganize my studio. I also found a lot of wonderful gift ideas that I look forward to making and giving.
Like I said, nothing wonderful or exciting happened to make the day special. It has just been a great day. I hope you have all had a wonderful day as well.

I rescued my sister...

My sister, Ginger called last week to chat. As usual we talked for quite a while about anything and everything. After a while being on the phone she mentioned that she needed to make a baby blanket for a shower gift but she didn't think she would have time to finish it on time. I told her that I had some "Boo Boo Blankets" finished. I think that if I had been standing in front of her, she would have pounced on me.

"Boo Boo Blankets" came about when my baby girls were born 20 years ago. They are small bassinet blankets that are the perfect size for newborns. When the baby scoots forward, like they all do, the blanket scoots with them so that they stay covered all night. I love them when they were tiny and they loved them long after. They became my preemie daughter's security blankets. This was nice because they were a lot smaller than most blankets, making them a lot easier to take along where ever we went. Later they became the chosen blanket to wrap a doll or stuffed animal in. My daughters still have their "boo boos" tucked away in their keepsakes.
I also had a lamb bag which was the natural progression from the trick or treat bags I made for my girls the first year they went out on Halloween. The original ones were jack-o-lanterns. My girls also loved those and wanted to use them to carry their toys around. I made lambs and bunnies as Easter bags but they also make a great small diaper bag for those trips to the grocery store. As the kids get older, they are great for carrying toys on a trip. The shape of them makes them perfect for setting next to the car seat for their toys. The kids can get the handle to get the toys and when they drop the bag back on the seat, it stays put. The burp clothes came about last year when a friend was expecting his first grand child. I thought the lamb burp cloth would be perfect with the bag as a baby gift. The other one is the same shape but without the face. It is flannel on both sides with a layer of terry cloth between to make it very absorbant.
Ginger decided that she would take it all. I think it is the perfect baby gift, and she didn't have to stress over getting something finished and mailed out on time. She couldn't make it to the shower because she had to work, so she had me mail it to her best friend who lived next door to the mother to be.

This is what the package looked like before I closed up the box and took it to the post office to ship. Oh the little key chain tied onto the package is a prayer charm. Just a little reminder that God will always be with the little bundle of joy. It has beads and glitter inside the small bottle along with a Bible verse that tells us that all babies are a gift from God. The keychain is a gift for the mom to be. It is something that I put into all of my orders. I change the verse to fit the gifting situation.
May God bless you all!
